The body the fullness did not need, and still entered
This essay continues two pieces already on this site: The fullness that pours out a world it does not owe to anyone, which proposed inverted Actus Purus as a working framework of gift rather than need, and The particular event without a new act in God, which admitted dated particularity — including an Incarnation dated — without placing a new decision, a new hour, or a new state in the source.
The gap the framework left open
Actus Purus and the horizontal process still stand facing each other as two demands that seem to cancel one another. The first says that God is complete: without potency, without becoming, without a lack the world could fill, and without any need to know Himself through anything other than Himself. The second says that the first cause does not remain only a distant vertical, but operates in time, among secondary causes, in nervous systems, at tables, and in deaths that refuse to become metaphors. The model called inverted Actus Purus tried to keep both demands without paying the usual prices. God remains pure act; the world could have not been; once there is a world, it is held continuously; and the holding does not make God depend on what is held. What joins the two is not participation that alters God and not a decree that never touches time. What joins them is effusion, a pouring-out that sustains every moment and receives nothing back as a completion.
That framework still stands. This essay does not replace it. It tests a gap inside it.

Resonance is not yet a place
A sunset can reflect fullness. A fidelity that will not sell itself can reflect fullness. A symphony, a voice, or a gesture held to the end can become what the earlier model called a temporal icon: depth in time rather than escape from time. None of that is cheap, and beauty is not automatically avoidance. A moment can become transparent without being evacuated. Reflection, however, does not obligate. You can recognize a trace of overflow and remain untouched. You can descend into the depth of the moment and still treat the source as climate. Climate does not bleed, cannot be betrayed, and does not sit at a table only to fail to prevent an arrest.
The question that opens here is not how to make God warmer. Warmth bought by inserting lack into the source is the Hegelian price already refused. The question is narrower and harder: if fullness pours out a world it does not owe to anyone, did the pouring remain resonance, or did it have a place that can be touched? Historical Christian faith answers with a name. The answer is not a demonstration. It is a claim with a cost, and the cost is particularity.
Three slides the name must not reopen
What must not happen first is a slide the model already named. If Incarnation means that God cannot not create, the framework has become emanationism. If it means that God waits to discover suffering from the inside because something in Him was unfinished, potency has entered the source. If it means that history completes Him, we are back in the circuit in which God passes through process and returns enriched. Inverted Actus Purus is useful only while those three slides are refused. The claim therefore cannot be that God became incomplete in order to become near. Nearness purchased by divine need is not effusion. It is hunger dressed as love. Love that needs an object in order to be love is not yet fullness, and that sentence remains.
The softer theft that keeps the name and drops the corpse
The other slide is softer and more contemporary. It keeps the name and empties the body. Christ becomes a symbol of depth, a figure for consciousness accessing more than four dimensions, an emblem of the distributed self at its most luminous. The cross becomes a diagram of the ego dying into awareness, and resurrection becomes a metaphor for integration. This is elegant, and it is also a way of not being touched. The earlier essay on spiritual language already warned that the ego hides in refined speech. It can hide in Christology too. Calling Jesus the texture of the moment is not more honest than calling trauma a portal. Both can be ways of floating above a wound that has a date. Inverted Actus Purus does not need a second God, and it also does not need a symbol that protects us from a corpse.
Assumption without potency in the source
The classical notes can be applied to a body without being cancelled by the body. God is fully actual, the world could have not been, human freedom is not a cog in a dialectic Spirit must finish, evil is not a necessary stage of divine becoming, and prayer does not feed a lack. Those claims do not become false if the Word assumes a human nature. They become more severe. What historical Christianity asserts, in the vocabulary of this model, is that the source remains unchanged fullness, that a human life is really lived, and that the joining is neither mixture nor deist distance. The person of the Word takes what was already finite. Finitude is not inserted into God as a new potency; it is assumed as a nature that can hunger, sleep, misread a room, grow tired of people, bleed, and die. The source does not complete itself by this, and the finite is not a ladder God required in order to arrive at Himself.
The sun analogy was already weak, and it is weaker now, because a sun does not become burnable. Effusion, if it only shines, can still be mistaken for weather. Effusion that eats and is handed over can be refused, and refusal is part of what makes the horizontal process free. A God who becomes through the world cannot allow history to fail altogether. A fullness that needs nothing can be rejected without remainder. That is not a proof of Incarnation. It is why Incarnation, if true, does not shrink the earlier claim about freedom. It makes the claim heavier.
Kenosis that does not feed the spring
Kenosis belongs here only in one sense. There is a kenosis that inserts weakness into the source, so that God learns, changes, suffers as God, and becomes more God through the cross. That version cannot sit inside inverted Actus Purus, because it is the horizontal process feeding the spring. There is another kenosis, in which the Word assumes the weakness of a nature that was already weak. The emptying is not a hole in fullness. It is fullness consenting to be present as someone who can be interrupted. The cost to classical language is real, because impassibility and assumption are not easy neighbors. The cost of the other version is higher for this model: it turns Golgotha into usefulness. If history completed God, Friday would be useful. If fullness needs nothing, Friday is either scandal or gift, and it is not an instrument. The earlier refusal of the theodicy that turns victims into teaching material for divine becoming must apply here first. A crucified man is not a stage. If the cross is made necessary to God, the victims of every other Friday become illustrations again, and the model was built to stop that theft.
From distributed body to a body that can be buried
The body on this site has already been taken seriously as a distributed system of sensing, prediction, regulation, defense, memory, identity, gut, posture, and a nervous system that learns under scrutiny. That description does not have to be withdrawn. A body can be all of that and still be the place a claim lands. Resonance says that in the texture of a moment you may recognize overflow. Assumption says that overflow occupied a system that hurts. The difference is not hostility to neuroscience. The difference is whether the finite remains only a mirror. A mirror does not ask to be washed, fed, forgiven, or buried. A person does. If effusion never becomes a person, inverted Actus Purus can stay clean, and cleanliness is one of its temptations. The temptation of the vertical-only picture was absence. The temptation of the process picture was need. The temptation of resonance-only is taste: fullness as atmosphere for a lucid observer.
Stay in the moment, the earlier essay said, and the vertical can become less opaque. That remains true. Stay only in the moment as aesthetic depth, and the vertical can also become a private luxury. Historical faith is crude on this point. It does not mainly ask whether you can feel the trace. It asks whether a particular body was taken, and whether that taking continues in water, bread, wine, oil, and a company of people who can correct you. That last clause matters because this site already said spiritual maturity is verified in relationship. Private clarity is not enough. A person may journal the mixed motives of the ego and still become uncorrectable when someone else names harm. If effusion is only recognized by the one who writes, the writer becomes the priest of his own seeing. The warning is already in the archive, and it should not be exempted when the subject is Christ.
Witnesses without solving the church
The church, for this essay, does not need to be solved as jurisdiction. It needs to be admitted as the claim that the pouring had witnesses: a process, an execution, a meal, and a refusal to let the body remain a private insight. Without witnesses, Incarnation collapses back into resonance. With only witnesses and no body, it collapses into institution. The tension is the same tension the model likes, and it should not be resolved too quickly.
Resurrection as gift rather than fuel
Providence in the earlier framework had three levels that could be held together without being measured: continuous ontological sustaining; a structural gravity of the good, the true, and the beautiful; and particular resonances such as prayer, a turning, or a recognition, not necessarily ruptures of law. A fourth level can be stated as a claim rather than a proof. Resurrection is not a timetable that crushes the heart, and it is not the dialectic arriving on schedule. It is the assertion that the source can hold a corpse without Friday having been necessary to God. Direction without the constraint that would serve an incomplete project can survive Easter only if Easter is gift rather than fuel. If resurrection is the moment Spirit finishes itself, freedom is again inscribed in an arc that cannot truly fail. If resurrection is overflow after a failure that did not enrich God, then the plans of the heart remain secondary causes rather than illustrations. The grave is not a classroom, and the empty grave is not a receipt.
None of this is laboratory evidence. The interview method used elsewhere on this site already knows the border between measurement and speculation, and the same border holds. Physics does not prove a risen body. Refusal to speak the name is not rigor. It can be a preference for climate over contact.
What the name changes, and what it must not change
What changes in the model if the name is allowed is not the first cluster of claims. God remains fully actual, the world could have not been, the process is not divine self-knowledge, evil is not a required stage, prayer does not feed a lack, and freedom is more authentic because God does not need it. What changes is the map of effusion. Overflow is no longer only the continuous holding of moments plus the occasional transparency of beauty. Overflow has a site, and the site is not the idea of humanity. It is a life that can be dated badly and killed legally. After that, resonance is not abolished. It becomes echo. A sunset can still be a temporal icon, but it is no longer the altar.
The sun analogy can be retired without contempt. Gift remains the direction. Gift, if it is not to stay abstract, needs a body that can be refused. A world the fullness does not owe to anyone can still be a world the Word entered, not because the fullness lacked a world, but because a pouring that never risks a name remains weather.
A restatement that stays a working framework
The working framework can now be restated without turning the restatement into a creed. God is fully actual, and the world could have not been. Once there is a world, it is held continuously by that actuality, and the holding does not make God depend on what is held. Historical Christian faith adds that the holding once took flesh; that the flesh did not complete the source; and that the source did not abandon the flesh to metaphor. If that addition is false, inverted Actus Purus can still describe a generous metaphysics. If it is true, the depth of the moment is not the last station. It is the aftersound of a body the fullness did not need, and still entered. That last clause is not a conclusion. It is the tension the model was already trying to hold, now given a face. Faces can be wrong. They can also be the only form in which a gift stops being a theory of light.
